Are you a skilled EDM Setup Programmer who thrives on precision, independence, and purpose-driven work? Doherty is looking for a passionate EDM Set-Up Technician located near Linden, NJ to join our growing precision machining team. You'll play a vital role in the production of high-tolerance medical device components, working closely with engineers to bring part designs to life. Targeting a EDM Programmer to set up and programming Wire EDM machines. Starting pay is between $35-$40/hr. with a bonus.
What you will do:

• Program and set up Wire EDM equipment (Makino & Mitsubishi)
• Develop manufacturing processes from part prints for new or existing customer products
• Create and modify light fixture designs using 2D CAD software (AutoCAD or similar)
• Own the full process—from drawing to finished part
• Perform routine preventive maintenance (cleaning, greasing, replacing parts)
• Collaborate with engineering to optimize part design and tooling
• Ensure all work meets tight tolerance and quality expectations in a regulated environment
• Combination of offline workstation and on machine G-code programming

What we are looking for:

• 3–5 years of hands-on Wire EDM experience (programming + setups)
• OR a strong technical school/trade program background in machining or engineering design
• Experience using 2D CAD software for fixture or part layout (AutoCAD, DraftSight, SolidWorks)
• Comfortable interpreting prints, specs, and setting up precision parts
• Familiar with regulated industries like medical device, pharma, or aerospace
• Software: 2D CAD (AutoCAD or equivalent), basic CAM experience helpful
