Beacon Hill is a proud partner to a reputable Real Estate Firm in Evanston. We are currently hiring a Retail Property Accountant.

Responsibilities/Duties

The responsibilities of the Retail Property Accountant are, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain general ledger and ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned retail properties.
  • Review and process accounts payable/receivable related to property operations.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and tenant account reconciliations.
  • Prepare CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations and annual tenant billings.
  • Track lease terms, rent schedules, and escalate charges per lease agreements.
  • Collaborate with property managers and leasing agents to review budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist with external audits and coordinate with tax preparers.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or retail property management.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or RealPage).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and lease accounting.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze large sets of data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
